As both Minnesota and Wisconsin begin to open up from their Stay At Home orders, we know that many questions will be asked about our community settings, specifically when it comes to visiting your loved ones.
At this time, both the Department of Health Services (DHS – Wisconsin) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) are guiding us to keep our doors closed to outside visitors. While this may seem counter to the messaging from both governments Stay At Home orders, we also agree with their message – to protect the most vulnerable in our communities.
For now, we are continuing to host many virtual meetings, and window visits between families and residents. At this time, the windows must remain closed for those visits.
At this time, we know that both departments are working with the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) to design plans on how senior living communities can move towards a more normal visiting schedule. We also know that this process will take some time, both in development, but also with the current situation with the pandemic.
We know that you miss your family members. We know that this has been hard. We are Stronger Together through this process. We take caring for your loved ones seriously. We appreciate all of the support your have shown to our staff. They have been under an intense amount of pressure and stress for the last several months. Because of your support, they have weathered this part of the storm. With your continued support, we will make it to the finish line together, stronger.
We couldn’t be prouder of the work that our staff has done during this difficult time. If you want to thank them, record a video and send it to the Executive Director, post on social media, send cards of thanks, say hello when you see them out and about (from a safe distance, of course). Even though we all appreciate them and the work they have done, it is your words that carry the most meaning.
Thank you for your patience and support. As we continue to move forward, we will keep you informed as best we can.
