The 2010 Winter Conference at Welcome Home got underway this morning. We’ve had several great speakers in this morning covering several timely topics. The first speaker of the morning was Dean Bloemke, President of Welcome Home Health Care. He talked about our vision and what goals we are working for this year. The second speaker was Pat Lang from Ridgewater College here in Hutchinson. She had a very captive audience as she talked about how to be a great mentor with her program “Connecting in a Disconnected World”.
After lunch we broke in to our breakout sessions. Joan Gardner from the Struther’s Parkinson’s Center at Park Nicollet was here to talk to the Nurses about Parkinson’s and how they can teach the Care Providers techniques in working with someone with Parkinson’s. Our own Roman Bloemke, Director of Operations spent the session with the Director’s of Resident Services and Memory Care Coordinator’s discussing his topic “Making Personal Connections”.
The rest of the afternoon is lining up really great. Tara Haiston from Hawkeye FoodService is currently meeting with the Nurses about Diabetic diets and Low Salt options in the dining room. The rest of the crew is with Sarah Work in her program that deals with the financial end of the business. We’ll also welcome Cal Diekmann in to talk about the 12 Do’s and Don’ts of Caregiving as well as our Regional Director’s, Jacob Work and Katie May for the RNs annual infection control in-service.
Tomorrow is lining up to be a great day as well with several speakers in.
Don’t forget about the awards program tonight at 7pm central!
