Mickie Schutz, has been named the Aging Services of Minnesota 2014 District F Caregiver of the Year for her years of service to residents at Potter Ridge Assisted Living in Red Wing. This special award is the highest honor awarded to Minnesota caregivers who dedicate their lives and careers to service older adults.
Ms. Schutz was honored by Aging Services of Minnesota, the state’s largest association of older adult services organizations in Minnesota.
Mickie Schutz, a Community Life Coordinator at Potter Ridge Assisted Living, was nominated for the prestigious award by her peers at Potter Ridge.
“From exercise class, to developing the Potter Ridge Singers who travel and perform, to getting the residents involved in community projects, enjoying a variety of entertainment venues, developing the Potter Ridge Story Tellers where the residents dress up in story book characters and read to younger children, and too much more to mention, Mickie goes above and beyond developing the activity program at Potter Ridge. Because of the laughing, having purpose, socializing, and physical movement, the residents at Potter Ridge flourish and maintain a healthy status.” Said Trincy Faas, Executive Director at Potter Ridge.
“The Caregiver of the Year award is about honoring the very best of the best. This award provides us with the opportunity to show Minnesotans the face of the people who care for our loved ones when we cannot. Mickie is the kind of caregiver we all hope will be there for us when we need help,” said Gayle Kvenvold, President and CEO of Aging Services of Minnesota. “
